Maduro's Hollow Offer of Dialogue in Venezuela The jailed ex leader Nicolas Maduro has welcomed "any path to dialogue" ahead of US backed talks between his interim government and opposition leaders.
On its face, this seems like a positive step towards resolving Venezuela's deep seated issues, but scratch beneath the surface and it becomes clear that Maduro's offer is little more than a thinly veiled attempt to legitimize his continued involvement in Venezuelan politics.
Maduro made his remarks via his official Telegram account from behind bars in New York, where he was imprisoned after being captured by US forces earlier this year.
